Our Journey
Imago was founded by Joel Hutchines, an expert in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) with over 20 years of experience in carpentry, architecture, and real estate development. Joel’s journey began on-site, working with his hands, and progressed to co-founding the award-winning Studio Workshop, where he honed his approach to thoughtful, impactful design.
In 2019, Joel took a step back from building to address some of the construction industry’s biggest challenges. He developed digital tools that streamlined design and manufacturing processes, empowering architects and reducing risks for project owners. This work culminated in the launch of a groundbreaking software platform that revolutionized workflows and enhanced collaboration across the industry.
After successfully exiting his software company, Joel joined a Silicon Valley AI firm to further explore how technology could shape construction’s future. Today, he brings this deep well of experience and vision back to the industry through Imago, combining cutting-edge methodologies with a passion for creating beautiful, sustainable, and meaningful spaces.
